Police said they received a tip in March 2016 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a residence in Westport had uploaded child pornography to electronic devices.
An investigation led to the home of Daniel Krulewitch, now 53, police said. A search warrant was executed at the home the following month by the Westport Police Department Detective Bureau and the regional Technical Investigations Unit.
According to police, searches of Krulewitch’s electronic devices turned up more than 50 images of child pornography. They also found an instant messenger app that contained conversations with minors, and attachments of images and selfies of nude, underage children in sexually explicit positions. Archived screenshots of chat conversations between Krulewitch and the minors were also located, investigators noted.
Krulewitch has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of second-degree possession of child pornography. As part of his plea agreement, he will spend 27 months in prison and must register as a sex offender upon his release. He will be on the sex offender registry for at least a decade. Krulewitch is scheduled to appear in court in September.
